The High Spirited Music Librarians

During the 4th Oslo-Shanghai Librarianship Conference, the music librarians of Oslo City Library played a Norwegian folk music using a plastic tube instrument called boomwhakers.

The instruments produce musical tones when struck together, on the floor, or against nearly any surface. When one end of a Boomwhackers tube is covered with Octavator Cap, the pitch it produces is lowered by an octave. Boomwhackers are often used by performance artists and other musical performance groups to add an element of spectacle.

The OCL librarians used these instruments in teaching fundamental concepts in rhythm, harmony, and melody among students and educators around Oslo. The said educational activity is part of the Music Library's services. Indeed, its an amazing performance and I admired them of having such devotion of teaching music to young people.

Great job, OCL music librarians....
