Librarians Congress on Environmental Sustainability

Manila, Philippines. 24 November 2009 -- This year's Librarians National Congress is focused on "The Promotion of Environmental Sustainability through Libraries and Information Centers". The Congress seeks to form public awareness on the importance of environmental sustainability and to make Philippine libraries, Filipino librarians and information professionals more cognizant of their role in promoting environmental sustainability. The congress started with Atty. Antonio A. Oposa's talk about environmental sustainability. Other topics to be presented would be on libraries and librarians role in promoting issues about the environment protection and sustainability. It has been noted that libraries and information centers play a vital role as a focal point for the exchange and distribution of information.

This Congress is sponsored by the Philippine Librarians Association Inc (PLAI) in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and National Committee on Library and Information Services (NCLIS) held on November 25-27, 2009 at the Heritage Hotel, EDSA, Pasay City.
